Thursday night at the Shark Club in Costa Mesa, CA, the fourth installment of the The Great Outdoors, titled The Destroyers was premiered to a host of industry people. The crowd was much lighter than what was expected but that didn’t affect the outcome of the evening. The makers of the film have once again produced amazing footage of the entire outdoor series. This film shows all 48 holeshots from both classes and is focused much more on the racing than what is going on outside of it.
The comic relief of the night was the moment Jason Lawrence entered the building. Being followed by not one, but two beautiful young ladies, Jason is living the life of a young Supercross Champion. It was nice to see that he chose to drink water rather than what he has developed a reputation for. Sitting just a few feet from him during the presentation made the film a thousand times better. As they announced the first holeshot of the year that Jason took, the crowd cheered as Jason was hooting and hollering! The fun continued until about 6 races into it when his results were less than stellar, and then there was a quick blurb about his suspension from racing and that was about the same time Jason decided to call it a night. As he left with the girls, I wondered to myself why he waited so long to go home.

The night was finished off by giveaways from Donnie Emler Jr. of FMF and Jeff Surwell of No Fear. It was a fun night and seeing how I could never really see that many races due to never knowing when they were on, it was cool to get a recap of everything I missed. Oh yeah, when you sit down to watch the show, pay special attention to when J-Law crosses the finish line at Glen Helen. You will notice the back of a photographers head blocking half the shot they were looking for, and that head would be mine. Sorry guys!
