So I've had a KTM 150SX in my garage for a while now, and I'm pretty convinced it's the best bike ever (for me, at least). Over the past ten years I've owned a number of bikes; a Yamaha YZ426F, Kawasaki KX125, Yamaha YZ450F and even a YZ250. I sold my YZ250 about a year ago so it's been a while since I swung a leg over a bike.

I ran into my buddy Danny Paladino (The Race Team Director for MDK/KTM Racing) while I was up in Washougal and he mentioned that he had an SX150 sitting in the shop I could try out if I wanted to. He didn't have to twist my arm, I picked it up the first chance I had.  I've managed to sneak away and ride 4 times since I got that thing and each time I get on it I never want to get off.  I have never had so much fun riding a bike before.  It comes with an abundance of trick parts and the only thing I would add to it is my number, but that would make me grow way too attached to it and I know that I have to give it back soon.

Here are a few of my take-aways from my time with this MDK/KTM 150SX:

  • Hydraulic clutch systems work so well. Why doesn't every company put one on their bikes?
  • The suspension is plush and responds the way I'd expect it to.  All you ever hear about is how bad KTM suspensions are, but I really like it so far.  One thing that I really love on the forks is that you don't have to use a screwdriver to make adjustments; they each have a hand adjustor that can easily be done without any hassle.
  • The power is perfect, for me at least!  It sounds exactly like a 125 when you fire her up, but on the track you can hear a deeper rumble down low just calling out to be used.  A couple of times I missed a shift, once out of a corner into a double that I usually hit in second, but even in first gear I managed to clear it.
  • Since the bike did come from the MDK race shop, it does have a few extra goodies on it that are not stock; a FMF Shorty Silencer, a VForce Reed system, Pro Taper Sprockets, and the very cool race team graphics (which will take a half-a-second off your lap, trust me).

That's probably enough info for today.  Oh yeah, I almost forgot, I weigh in at about 167 pounds and would probably be classified as a Vet Novice.  If they never asked for this bike back, I would be glad to keep it forever.  It is the perfect bike for me and I will probably end up buying one as soon as Motocross.com gives me a a $6000.00 raise!  Until then, I'll keep BRAAAAAAAP'n away on this bad boy!

Oh I have ridden a Honda! The last time I was on one I got thrown off so fast,,and after couple fractured ribs, a jacked up shoulder, and 4 months off,,,I still loved the bike, just way to much for me. I am loving the 2 stroke and always will!

Ol' BrownDog has been on a Honda, I promise. He's just a two-stroker at heart.
